Bayless interviewed her friends, her mother and mother in law, and her grandmothers for any advice they have for new parents. Included are ways to keep a baby happy, ways to encourage independence, and ways to encourage the baby to sleep through the night. Project was created for Dr. Eliason's English 391 course taught at Brigham Young University in 1999.

Mantyla examines advice passed down from married to engaged women across generations. From these pieces of advice, Mantyla analyzes not only the wisdom of what is being shared, but also the personality and points of view that reveal much about the advice giver. While predominately about marriage, some advice on raising children is also included. Beard explores the significance of food ways and food lore as it relates to a specific culture as a whole. Beard focuses on Jell-O, a food very common in Mormon gatherings and in Mormon culture. She then goes on to specifically analyze Mormon food ways and how they fit into the framework of Mormon culture as a whole. Cooper analyzes personal narratives told by airborne paratroopers and their similarities between one another. He then discusses the role these personal narratives serve as folklore specific to the culture of airborne paratroopers, according to Bascom's four functions of folklore. Scope and Contents note Cooper discusses the commonality amongst members of the United States Army Paratroopers. Such similarities include common experiences and even personalities, thus allowing members of this elite folk group to understand the stories of one another more fully.
