Julie M. Dent collected personal narratives from nursing students at Brigham Young University. Included are stories of interesting patients, difficult nursing situations, and most memorable injuries and illnesses observed. Project was written for an English 392 class taught at Brigham Young University during Winter semester 1991.

Scope and Contents note Harris collects the stories of her maternal grandmother, Lucille Leatham Rudd, "a mother, a nurse, and a ranch woman." Harris explains that in her study of women in Western American literature, she found mostly stereotypes who didn't measure up to her cowgirl grandmother. Julia Hutchings collected personal narratives from her great-aunt Merle Kartchner Shumway. Included are stories of family history, Mormon folklore, and personal stories. Project was written for an English 392 class taught at Brigham Young University during Winter semester 1991.

Scope and Contents note

This project looks at the folklore surrounding outsider musicians. An outsider is one who strays from the musical norm, away from mainstream music, and is one that favors more heartfelt, experimental music. Outsiders are also artists who keep their life shrouded in secret. The stories collected recount the lives and experiences of these outsiders that show the value of creativity, nonconformity, and love. Kirry asked family and friends to recall sayings from their grandparents and under what circumstances they would be said. Included are stories to encourage children to behave, wives tales, and ways to influence children's eating habits. Young discusses how her project came to be through her friend Carrie Poole. She discusses the forms of folklore present in a nursing home, and the different roles they serve. Young relates personal narratives in three categories; cautionary tales, humorous stories, and uplifting stories. Young's collection comes from Idaho. Hillary Huefner collected personal narratives of her father, James Howard Huefner. Included are stories of childhood, high school, college, courtship and marriage, experiences in the navy, family vacations, working life after the nacy, and stories about others.Project was written for an English class taught at Brigham Young University during Fall semester 1992.

Scope and Contents note This project is a collection of people's beliefs and knowledge of Pocahontas. The analysis notes that many of the informants were influenced by the Disney version of the Pocahontas story, and how fact and legend are interwoven together. Notes common motifs in the informants beliefs, such as Pocahontas as peacemaker and respector of nature. Scope and Contents note This project is a collection of rituals and superstitions that individuals believe will help them on a test. The analysis discusses how superstitions arise, and how ignorance and belief in magic is often associated with jinxes and superstitions. Notes how the uncertainty of a test gives rise superstitions.
