Submitted by BYU student R. Todd Mears for his Fall 1987 English class. About the stories and life of the grandfather of the author, William (Bill) Leroy Mayne. Contains a cover essay, autobiographical sketch, list of informants, and informant items. Items include William's various recollections of his childhood and early years, natural disasters, ranching experiences, hunting, his family, and more.

Hileman collected information and family stories related to her great-grandfather, William Watt Hileman. Included are stories of the games he played as a child, the success he attained with only an eighth grade education, and pranks he had played on his neighbor. The project was collected for Dr. Eliason's English 391 class taught at Brigham Young University in 1998.

A collection of narratives and folk art about the author's paternal grandfather, William Dunow, nicknamed Willie Whiskers. William was known as a mountain man that enjoyed hunting and wood carving. The collection includes 23 photographs printed on paper, 5 items of folk art, and 10 narratives. Collected by Jessica Dunow, Dr. Eric Eliason's ENGL 391 class, Fall 2008.

Jones deals with the family aspect and perceptions in Wilson Canyon. Created by Lana L. Jones while enrolled in English 391 class during spring semester of 1996.

Jones collected photographs and explanations of landmarks in Wilson Canyon, near Garfield, Utah. Included are a history of the family, photographs of buildings, landmarks and the surrounding countryside, and interviews with the Wilson family. The project was collected for an English 391 class taught at Brigham Young University in 1996.

Winters explores the rich family folklore shared amongst her siblings. She explores the outcomes of sharing such stories, including family closeness, an improved understanding of one another and the origin of communities amongst themselves. Created by Elise Winters while enrolled in Jacqueline Thursby's English 356 class during winter semester 2002.

Scott Jensen collected personal narratives from his wife's grandfather, Wintle Bingham. Included are stories about childhood and school experiences, college, his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, marriage, and his experiences as a parent. Project was written for an English 319 class taught at Brigham Young University during Fall semester 1992.

Hansen collected occupational lore while working at Nu Skin International. Included are gimmicks the company used to motivate workers, creative decisions the company made with its employee's to work with them better, and ways that employees reduce stress while on the job. Project was created for Dr. Rudy's English 391 course taught at Brigham Young University in 1998.

Harvey writes about how couples got engaged to be married. She divides the stories into five categories spontaneous giving, the surprise ring, two ring stories, the evening didn't go as planned, and the dramatic surprise to examine the trends of different engagement stories. Project was created for Dr. Eliason's English 392 course taught at Brigham Young University in 2000.

Pamela P. Brown collected personal narratives of wives' tales about pregnancy. Included are stories of helps with conception, signs of pregnancy, what to eat, avoiding miscarriage, baby's hair, misfortunes of pregnant women, determining the baby's sex, and starting labor. Project was written for an English 391 class taught at Brigham Young University during Winter semester 1990.
