Submitted by BYU student Corby Johnson, about BYU students' obsession with their roommates' dating lives, and how it affects dating roles and privacy. Includes a cover essay, autobiography, informants' details about roommates and how they keep each other informed about their dating lives, as well as how they feel about their personal privacy, and males vs. female's perspectives. Prepared for her Fall 2005 English 391 class under Prof. Jill Rudy.

Williams writes about how couples became engaged. Includes stories from three generations, as well as both the male and female perspective. Project was created for Dr. Thursby's English 356 course taught at Brigham Young University, 1998.

Hulme interviewed friends about how they became engaged. Project includes stories from both the guy and the gal about the proposal and how involved the couple was before the proposal. Project was created for Dr. Eliason's English 391 course taught at Brigham Young University in 1999.

Smith collected couples engagement stories and noted similarities. Included are both the man and woman's perspective, engagements that occurred at the temple, engagements that had significance in location, and whether the men had a ring picked out when he proposed. Project was created for Dr. Eliason's English 391 course taught at Brigham Young University in 2000.

Hart collected stories of marriage proposals given and received by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Included are stories of surprise marriage proposals, women knowing their boyfriend was going to propose, and proposals that didn't go as expected. The project was written for and English 392 class taught at Brigham Young University in 1997.

Dell collects marriage proposal stories from current or former Brigham Young University students. She explains that several of these stories have similarities because of the shared traditions in a community that focuses on marriage. She discusses differences in the narratives depending on whether it is a personal experience or a friend of a friend story. Created by Rachel Dell while she was enrolled in Eric Eliason's English 391 class during winter semester 2006.

This project is a collection of Mormon proposal stories. The analysis discusses how proposal stories are the source of enthusiasm and nostalgia. The collector compares Mormon marriage norms with national norms and comments on the culture of Mormons and marriage. Collected by Brittany Cornelius, Dr. Paulsen's ENGL 391, Spring 2004.

Coley collects engagement stories and examines the differences between engagement stories and romantic expectations in older and younger generations. She finds that males in both generations are less descriptive when telling engagement stories, while females tend to be more interested in detail. Carter examines broken engagements. Included are a narrative of the courtship, how the engagement went, and the reactions to the break up. The project was created for Dr. Rudy's English 392 course taught at Brigham Young University in 2000.
