Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a handwritten autobiography and diary. Eckersley writes about his early life and about joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He tells about many meetings of his faith while he was still in England. He died in Wellsville, Utah, in 1869.

Abstract

Microfilmed diaries (1886-1958), correspondence, newsclippings, and ephemera (advertisements, programs, and a prohibition poster). Some letters include correspondence with Mormon leaders Francis M. Lyman, Heber J. Grant, and Charles W. Penrose. The diaries concern his missions for the Mormon Church in England, and life in Loa, Freemont, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

William Young Empey diary

Photocopy of a handwritten diary kept from 1852 to 1854 when Empey was serving in England as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He describes his voyages from Utah to England as well as the return. He also writes about the nature of missionary work, and the problems he faced in England. Empey signed his name "William Y. Empey" on the cover of the diary.

Moses Franklin Farnsworth missionary diary and patriarchal blessings

Handwritten diaries, patriarchal blessings, and miscellaneous items. Farnsworth gives a brief autobiography before he started his first diary in 1862. His diaries cover from 1862 to 1864 and from 1868 to 1870 when he was on a mission for the Mormon Church in England. Also included are patriarchal blessings for members of the Farnsworth family.

Abstract

The collection contains a handwritten diary covering the years 1853 to 1855 and typed copies of patriarchal blessings of Hazen family members. Hazen writes about his conversion to Mormonism in England, his calling as a branch president in that faith, his marriage to Mary Ann Bainbridge, and his emigration to the United States. Also included are handwitten copies of songs and poems.
