Handwritten letter written in Kearney, Missouri, dated 7 July 1906, and addressed to his nephew, Jesse. The letter states, "Dear Jesse. Do not forget cartridges 38 Cal 1873 Modell Winchester. Also bring one cleaning stick in 3 pieces so I can put it in brich of gun One of them that screws together. It must not be less than 26 inches in length Your affct Uncle Frank James."

Handwritten and signed letter, addressed to W.W. Freeman of Charleston, Arkansas, dated 15 May 1898, and composed in St. Louis, Missouri. James writes about his plans to sell a copyrighted photograph and expresses the desire to purchase a farm with the proceeds. Also included is a newspaper clipping of a photograph of Frank James and Kit Dalton dated 4 July 1910.

Adolphus Freeman letter

Handwritten and signed letter, dated December 16, 1849, and composed in Bloomfield, Illinois. Freeman writes to his brother, William Freeman, in Sacramento, California. Adolphus tells about attempting to acquire land and working for wages. He also inquires about the prospects of moving to California.

Frémont family letters

Eight holograph letters, four from Fremont, four from his wife, Jessie Benton Fremont. Jessie's letters deal with personal and family matters. Two of John's letters deal with personal business; the other two with affairs connected to his responsibilities as Commander of the Western Department of the U.S. Army in 1861. They discuss personnel transfers to various areas of his command.
