Photocopies of handwritten and typed letters, histories, interviews, diaries, pamphlets, and newspapers. The materials relate to a large range of topics in the early history of the Mormon Church; Joseph Smith, second president of the Mormon Church; and his family. Interviewees include Smith family members and those who knew them. The items were copied by Donald Q. Cannon as part of the continuing Mormon Church History Sources Project.

Handwritten and signed letter, dated September 19, 1885, and addressed to George S. Richards. Cannon writes about an autograph of Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon Church.

John M. Cannon papers

This collection contains thirty-nine letters written to and by John M. Cannon, a Salt Lake City attorney. There are business letters and personal correspondence. The business letters deal mainly with business: mining, ranching, buying and selling of farm land, closing of bank accounts, etc. The contents of the collection span the years between 1893 and 1914 and are arranged chronologically.

Mina C. Cannon autograph books

Photocopies of handwritten autograph books. Mina received greetings and well wishes from many prominent Utahns and leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many of these items were written from the Utah State penitentiary by Church leaders incarcerated for polygamy.

Card family mission photographs

Collection includes four photographs and a postcard related to Card family missionary activities, including missionary group photographs including members of the Sloan family, as well as B.H. Roberts, Church history sites, and an illustration of the officers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Photographs were taken between the 1890s and the 1930s.

Cardinal Rodolfo Pio da Carpi letters received

Handwritten letters all addressed to Cardinal Rodolfo Pio da Carpi, legate of the marquisate of Ancona (200 items). Most of the items deal with religious and political issues relating to the Council of Trent (1545-1563). The items are by various persons including those who were in important in the politics of the time.

Biographical sketch of William Carter

Typewritten biography. Also included is a typewritten poem by Johnson. William Carter was a Mormon who lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, migrated to Utah in 1847, and lived in Salt Lake City and later in St. George, Utah. He was a polygamist who spent time in the Utah penitentiary for bigamy.

Castle Dale Ward bishopric meeting minutes

Photocopies of the minutes of the bishopric meetings of the Castle Dale Ward in the Emery Stake, Utah, along with the donation account of the ward and a list of donors to the Manti Temple. The donation account includes names and descriptions of donations in kind. The minutes include the names of those who were called to ecclesiastical positions.

Thirty-three handwritten records. The items are largely in Latin with some Greek references. The materials relate to the politics, internal matters, theological controversies, and censorship in the Catholic Church. The items date mainly from the last quarter of the sixteenth to the first quarter of the seventeenth centuries. Also included are references to important earlier events such as the Council of Trent. Many of the items relate to restricting certian works from being read.
