Before most of the poems there is a paragraph giving some background information and it's original date of publication. Many of the poems are about religion, love, nature, and history. Materials include writings by Orson F. Whitney's family members, C. Byron Whitney and Horace G. Whitney. Byron's poems are about a friend named Jim Morgan, motherhood, and children.
