Scope and Contents
Personal papers of Howard Earl McBride (1932-2021), mainly related to his service in the United States Army during the 1950s. Includes letters to and from Howard's wife Lois and other family members while Howard was at Fort Sill and Fort Bliss, military certificates, documents, identity cards, and photographs. Also includes materials related to Howard and Lois's time attending Brigham Young University, such as identity cards, clippings, photographs, a flier advertising Howard's run for the student body presidency, and other ephemera. Materials dated 1950-1964.

Biographical / Historical
Howard Earl McBride was born on September 29, 1932, to Cleao Wells McBride and Fern Rose Moffett in Smoot, Wyoming. The family moved to Burley, Idaho, when Howard was young. Howard attended Brigham Young University in the 1950s. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Australia, where he met his future wife, Lois Ladner. They were married in 1957. In 1956, Howard joined the United States Army, and served until 1964. Howard graduated from Stanford University with an MBA in 1962. He worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric and taught at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. Howard died in Kaysville, Utah, on December 2, 2021.
