The series contains Army, Navy, and Internment camp records of the Philippines from World War II. There are also business, personal, and military letters, newspapers, and other ephemera, such as blueprints, drawings for a ship, and census records of the internment camps. Materials dated 1918 to 1978.
Materials include a photocopy of a typescript of the diary of Henry Freeman, officer in the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, written during a campaign in the western United States during the American Indian wars. Includes his account of the Battle of Little Big Horn in eastern Montana where Lieutenant Colonel George A. Custer was killed and his army was defeated by the the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes. Dated March-October 1876.
Papers of Max and Jean Hanks, including letters sent between Max and Jean while Max was serving in the military, Max Hank's certificates and military and flight records, family photographs in black and white and color, including photographs of ancestors, scrapbooks, family history letters and documents, legal papers, diplomas, and a journal kept by Jean.
