He began his teaching career at the University of Alberta in 1945 and joined the Faculty of Education in 1950. At his retirement in 1980, he had become professor of the sociology of education. His major interests include community development and Indian and Metis culture.)

He was called to the French Mission and was assigned to work in the French-Swiss (Romande) District of Switzerland.
