Scope and Contents

Contains Godfrey and Card's research materials on Charles Ora Card (1839-1906), and early Mormon settler in Alberta. Includes correspondence (1991-1993), research materials, and two manuscripts at different stages of the book "The Diaries of Charles Ora Card," and "The Canadian Years, 1886-1903." There are also copies of the books "Challenge of the Homestead: Peace River Letters of Clyde and Myrle Campbell, 1919-1924" and "The Rundle Journals, 1840-1848." These two titles also deal with the history of Alberta.

Biographical History

Brigham Young Card (1914-2006) was a professor at the University of Alberta from 1945 to 1980. He specialized in the sociology of education. His interests included Indian and Metis culture and Mormon studies.

Donald G. Godfrey (born 1944) is an author and professor of journalism in Arizona.

Donald G. Godfrey received his bachelor's degree in communications at Weber State University, and his master's degree in journalism at the University of Oregon. He completed his education with a Ph.D. in speech communication from the University of Washington. Over the course of his career, Godfrey has worked in a number of positions, including television news reporter, news director and producer, and news anchor. He has also taught journalism and communications courses at universities throughout the West, including schools in Utah, Washington, and Arizona. Godfrey has also written a number of works on communications and Mormon history.
