Philip Kearny letter

Handwritten and signed letter written on September 23, 1845 at Fort Leavenworth and addressed to Lt. Col. George Tallcott. The note states that the accounts relating to supplies had been forwarded. The accounts were delayed due to Kearny's ill health. Kearny was on a military expedition to the South Pass area when this was written. He was in the command of his uncle Stephen Watts Kearny (1794-1848) at the time.

Robert E. Lee letter to George Brinton McClellan

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a letter written at Richmond, Virginia, on June 17, 1862, and addressed to George B. McLellan (1826-1885), commander of the Union Army. Lee replies to McClellan's suggestion "to consider medical officers in care of the sick and wounded as non-combatants." Lee agrees "that such officers would be so regarded in the operations of the armies of Northern and Eastern Virginia." George Brinton McClellan letter

Handwritten and signed letter written from the Army of the Potomac headquarters on July 10, 1862. The item is addressed to Lorenzo Thomas (1804-1875), adjutant General of the Union Army. McClellan wants all of the regiments and batteries of the army brought up to "regulation" in size. He suggests combining units to bring them up to strength.

Contains materials pertaining to the life of Leland Ira Selvey, particularly in relation to his time serving in France during World War I. Included are souvenirs from France, such as guidebooks, a single feather, postcards, and printed ephemera. Also includes handwritten letters from family and friends, scrapbooks, notebooks, diaries, and 259 photographs and negatives. Dated 1905-1927, with the bulk dated 1918-1919.
