Biography of Martha Clayton Dorton

Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typewritten biography. Martha Clayton was born in England in 1837, and her family soon joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She migrated to Utah in 1855 and later lived in Lehi. She married Joseph Dorton in 1857 and lived with him in Cedar Valley, Utah. She died in 1923.

Also includes two unsigned handwritten sketches: One of Jonathan Duke and one of his son, Robert S. Duke.

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary of Dunlap's overland journey from Lee, Iowa to Montana by horse team in 1864. Dunlap wrote an introduction to the item, dated 30 January 1865, describing Montana and dedicated it to "My friends." Diary entries are very detailed and describe the geography of the overland route, food and camping conditions, encounters with Indian tribes, and trouble with thieves. Biography : Elizabeth Jane Ginger Durrant

Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typewritten biography. Elizabeth Ginger was born in 1853 in England. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and migrated to Utah in 1868. She married John Durrant in 1869 and had 10 children. She died in 1932. Even though Ella Durrant is listed as the author, this item is an autobiography of Elizabeth.
