Edward Partridge, Jr. diaries

Partridge writes about his mission to Hawaii from 1854 to 1858 and from 1882 to 1885 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the latter when he served as mission president. He writes about incidents during the Utah War (1857-1858), and settling in Farmington and in Fillmore, Utah, where he served as bishop. Patridge also writes about his work as a probate judge in Millard County, as a member of the Utah Territorial Legislature in the 1870s,...

William Griffiths Reese diaries

Handwritten diaries with photocopies of the items. Reese writes about his work as a teacher and as a school administrator, his missions to Wales and Australia for the Mormon Church, his service as a local politician, and his assignments as a local Mormon leader. Reese also tells about personal and family matters and records partriarchal blessings and lists important dates in family history. Materials dated 1882-1979.

The materials deal with his motivational speeches before he was a congressman and his congressional career. The autobiography is an attempt by Stringfellow to correct the stories about his war experiences and about his various activities after he realized he had lied.
