Handwritten and signed letter dated December 2, 1849, written at Socorro, New Mexico, and addressed to a Lt. McLand at Santa Fe, New Mexico. May writes that the Apache chief, "Ponce," and other Apaches request a meeting to discuss peace.
J. Mayhew letter
Handwritten letter dated 25 April 1827. The item is addressed to "Sir." Mayhew responds to a letter, describes the nature or his work, and tells how much various items cost. The item was written from the town and in the year in which the Mormon Prophet, Joseph Smith, reported acquiring the "Golden Plates" from which he translated the Book of Mormon.
Henry E. Maynadier letters
General Orders dated October 5 and 7, 1857, giving marching orders for the battalions and trains of the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Winfield in the Utah Territory (modern Wyoming). One letter is signed by Maynadier by the order of Col. Alexander.
John D. T. McAllister letter
Handwritten and signed letter by John Daniel Thompson McAllister dated 1901 addressed to a stake president in the Manti region. This letter is a request to admonish the members of that stake to be generous with their donations so the costs of operating the temple could be covered.
