Also includes accounts written by Roberta Flake Clayton of the deaths of Lucy H. Flake in 1900, of a birthday celebration for William J. Flake in 1914, and of the death of William J. Flake in 1932.

Scope and Contents

The Joseph Robert Meservy and Phebe Meservy Higbee notebooks consist of colored photocopies of the original notebooks. Joseph Robert Meservy's notebook begins in 1864 and contains a number of autobiographical notes, diary notations and summaries of pioneer business transactions. Phebe Meservy Higbee's notebook contains news and magazine articles, poetry, recipes, and family records. Both notebooks contain multiple pages of Pitman shorthand.
