Duwayne Leroy Anderson missionary papers

Scope and Contents

Materials contain papers dated from 1922 to 1925, which include a mission journal and accompanying transcription, missionary meeting notes, "Swiss and German Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" LDS Church directory, and photograph and postcard albums. All these things were created in conjunction with Anderson's missionary service in Germany from 1922 to 1925.

George Edward Anderson diaries

Handwritten diaries for the years 1895-1904, 1908-1909, 1914-1915, and 1919-1920. Anderson writes about his family life, his studio in Springville, Utah, and his travels throughout southern Utah with his tent gallery. Three of the items deal with his mission for the Mormon Church in England and describe Anderson's photographing of Mormon history landmarks in the Eastern United States.

Account of his family affairs and daily life in Bountiful, Utah. Also records visits with friends and short trips with his wife, Ruth, to various places, including Moab, Capitol Reef National Park, and Lake Powell, Utah; and Jackson Hole, Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Writes briefly of attending meetings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Last entry, written by an unidentified person, reports Anderson's death.

The diaries are in six volumes and include genealogical items. The newspaper clippings relate to Anderson and his family.

This collection contains 2 diaries covering briefly related experiences and financial dealings of Anderson during the period of 1842-1856, from Nauvoo to the Utah Territory. Also includes patriarchal blessings given by Hyrum Smith and John Smith, as well as other documents and correspondence. Two diaries, family correspondence, patriarchal blessings, family land deeds, Nauvoo Legion Certificate, and War of 1812 pension certificate.

Abstract

The collection contains a typewritten copy of a diary kept from 30 July to 12 August of 1857. Anderson writes about a company of Mormons travelling from Carson Valley, Nevada to Salt Lake City, Utah. He tells about Indian troubles and about the miles travelled every day.
