Scope and Contents Contains handwritten statements and a newspaper clipping. The materials relate to a Curtis B. Hawley who was implicated in an "Episode of a Pay Roll Robbery and a Double Hanging in Gila County in the Autumn of 1880." An article in the "Arizona Republican" on 19 April 1922 stated that Hawley was a Mormon. A letter written by A. W. Heber Robert McBride autobiography

Scope and Contents Handwritten autobiography and a photocopy of the item. McBride was born in England, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his parents in 1856, and migrated to Utah. McBride writes about migrating to Utah in the ill-fated handcart company led by Edward Martin. He tells about the hardships he and his family faced. Biography of Alexander Melville

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten autobiography. Melville was born in Scotland in 1821, worked on a ship that hunted whales, lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, and migrated to Utah in 1852. He lived in Provo, Utah, campaigned against Utah Indians in 1853, and settled in Fillmore, Utah. He died in 1911.

Photocopy of a handwritten biography of Albert Merrill. Merrill was born on Long Island, New York; joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1841; moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1843; migrated to Utah in 1852; and settled in Provo, Utah. He served on a mission for the Church to the Eastern States from 1869 to 1870 and was made a patriarch of the Church in 1873.
