Scope and Contents
Contains handwritten statements and a newspaper clipping. The materials relate to a Curtis B. Hawley who was implicated in an "Episode of a Pay Roll Robbery and a Double Hanging in Gila County in the Autumn of 1880." An article in the "Arizona Republican" on 19 April 1922 stated that Hawley was a Mormon. A letter written by A. W. Lillywhite requests information from Mormons about the authenticity of Hawley being a Mormon. The statements are by people who knew Hawley when he worked near Provo, Utah, relating that he was not a Mormon. No information on A. W. Lillywhite.
