Scope and Contents

Typed biography of Dora Maiben. Dora was born in 1886 in Provo, Utah, and died in 1978, in Bountiful, Utah. She studied nursing at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, served as a nurse with the United States Army in France during World War I, and cared for United States personnel stationed in Germany after the war. She later served in the Balkans and then returned to Utah. She never married.

Hugh B. Brown uniform

Materials include a Canadian dress uniform and hat, which belonged to Hugh B. Brown when he was an officer during the first World War (1914-1918). The uniform is red with white trim and gold metal on the shoulders. The hat is black and white.

Typescript of a diary. Young kept his journal from 22 April 1918 to 13 May 1919 which was the time of his military service. Young was drafted into the United States Army and served with the 91st "Wild West" Division which landed in France in July 1918 and returned to the United States in April 1919. Young's entries are often lengthy and highly detailed. He describes his experiences in training and in combat and the various activities of the soldiers.

Scope and Contents Transcript of an interview conducted by Stan Burnett on 31 Jan. 1985 for the Ray Hillam war project. Farnworth was inducted into the military at Camp Fremont, California. He contracted influenza in 1918. He served as a guard in France, and went to Camp Lincoln after the war to guard Afro-Americans.
