Mark Hofmann papers
Scope and Contents
Contains two historical documents (late 19th century) acquired by Hofmann during his LDS mission in England. Also includes notes taken by Hoffman during his mission, mostly containing references to gospel doctrines and contains a letter to Hoffman's wife, Doralee Olds Hofmann, related to selling manuscripts. Later installment includes Carbon County court documents and other items related to forgeries.

Biographical History
Mark Hofmann (1954- ) is most well known for his forgeries of manuscripts, especially those related to early leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He successfully sold some of his forged documents to the Church. However, his forgeries were later suspected and then revealed and confirmed after police searched his home following his arrest for murdering two people.
