History of Jonathan Steggell
Scope and Contents
Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typewritten biography. Steggell was born in England in 1833, served in as a cabin boy on many sea voyages, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Elizabeth Jane Bennett in 1856. Once Steggell was shipwrecked and nearly starved. He came to Utah in 1861. He returned to England from 1866 to 1868 to serve as a missionary for his faith. Jonathan married Mary Ann Smith in 1868 and also married Isabelle Dvins in 1869. He moved to American Fork, Utah, in 1869 or 1870 and died there in 1885.
