Materials include a printed family history titled 'Heder Means Honor' documenting the history of the John William Heder (1856-1940) and Anna Jorgene Cristina Madsen (1864-1955) family who joined the LDS Church in Sweden and Denmark in the 1860s and helped settle communities in and around Mesa, Arizona. The history was compiled by who ladys Heder Biggs in approximately 1990 and contains photocopies and transcriptions of photographs, images, letters, and genealogy charts related to members of the John Heder family. Dated approximately 1990.

Biographical / Historical

Gladys Heder Biggs (1914-1993) was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a genealogist.

Gladys Heder Biggs was born on January 19, 1914, in Tucson, Arizona, to parents John Earl Heder and Alta Richardson. As a young woman she served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission (northern Indiana and West Michigan). On November 15, 1939, she and Wilford Merwin Biggs were married in Mesa, Arizona; together they had nine children. Later in life, the two served a mission together to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. She served in multiple leadership positions in her local ward including Primary president, Relief Society counselor, ward historian, and genealogist.

Gladys Heder Biggs died on February 24, 1993, in Provo, Utah.
