Biography
Barton O. Aylesworth (1860-1933) was an American college administrator and minister.
Barton Orville Aylesworth was born on September 5, 1860 in Athens, Illinois. He studied at Eureka College, and served as a minister in Illinois and Iowa following his graduation. While serving in Atlantic, Illinois he married Georgia M. Shores, and they had one son, Merlin H. Aylesworth. In 1889 he was selected to as president of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he served until 1897. After leaving Drake he moved west and became the pastor of the Central Christian Church in Denver, Colorado. He returned to education in 1899 when he was appointed the president of the State Agricultural College in Fort Collins, serving until 1909. Aylesworth passed away on July 1, 1933 in Denver, Colorado.

Letters, a brochure, and an envelope, 1897-1898
Two typewritten and signed letters, dated 12 Nov. 1897 and 1 Jan. 1898. The earlier missive is addressed to "Mr. Goss" whom Barton thanks for some suggestions on how to improve his writings. The other item is addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth. Barton responds to a request for autobiographical information.
Letters, a newspaper clipping, and an envelope, 1894-1900
Five handwritten and signed letters. Three are addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth. One is addressed to John Brisben Walker and another to the "editor of the Cosmopolitan."
Letters, a portrait, and an envelope, 1901
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 3 Nov. 1901, and addressed to "Dear Sir," probably Barton O. Aylesworth. Burton lists some of his recent publications. Also included is a typed, form letter sent by Aylesworth to Burton upon which Burton wrote responses to the inquiries in the missive. With these materials is an envelope in which the items were sent. Also included is a portrait of Burton clipped from a magazine.
Letters, a postcard, and two envelopes, 1901-1902
Two handwritten and signed letters dated 7 Nov. 1901 and 19 Jan. 1902. Each is addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth of Fort Collins, Colorado. Bloede responds to Aylesworth's request fo biographical information. Also included is the two envelopes in which the letters were sent and a postcard stating that Bloede had received a note from Aylesworth.

Three handwritten and signed letters. Two of the items are undated and addressed to "Mr. Walker," probably John Brisben Walker. Bigelow writes about a riding accident which he suffered. He also states that his is submitting an article for publication. Brisben also responds to a request from Barton O. Aylesworth for biographical information. Also included is the envelope in which the letter to Aylesworth was sent. The post mark on the item is dated 3 Dec. 1901.

Two handwritten and signed letters, addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth, composed in Boston, Massachusetts, and dated 4 Dec. 1902 and 2 Jan. 1903. Allen informs Aylesworth where he may find biographical information on himself. Allen also lists some of his recent publications. The envolopes used to send these letters are found with the collection.
Letters, envelopes, and a magazine clipping, 1831-1919
Two handwritten and signed letters, addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth, and dated 18 Nov. 1894 and 28 Jan. 1895. Barr responds to Aylesworth's request for biographical information on her and presents a list of some of her writings. Also with the collection are the envelopes in which the letters were sent, an autograph of Barr found on the back of one of her calling cards, and a magazine clipping giving information on Barr's life.
