Biography
Barton O. Aylesworth (1860-1933) was an American college administrator and minister.
Barton Orville Aylesworth was born on September 5, 1860 in Athens, Illinois. He studied at Eureka College, and served as a minister in Illinois and Iowa following his graduation. While serving in Atlantic, Illinois he married Georgia M. Shores, and they had one son, Merlin H. Aylesworth. In 1889 he was selected to as president of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he served until 1897. After leaving Drake he moved west and became the pastor of the Central Christian Church in Denver, Colorado. He returned to education in 1899 when he was appointed the president of the State Agricultural College in Fort Collins, serving until 1909. Aylesworth passed away on July 1, 1933 in Denver, Colorado.

Letters and an envelope, 1901
Three handwritten and signed letters. Two of the items are undated and addressed to "Mr. Walker," probably John Brisben Walker. Bigelow writes about a riding accident which he suffered. He also states that his is submitting an article for publication. Brisben also responds to a request from Barton O. Aylesworth for biographical information. Also included is the envelope in which the letter to Aylesworth was sent. The post mark on the item is dated 3 Dec. 1901.
Letters, envelopes, and a brochure, 1892-1903
Two handwritten and signed letters, addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth, composed in Boston, Massachusetts, and dated 4 Dec. 1902 and 2 Jan. 1903. Allen informs Aylesworth where he may find biographical information on himself. Allen also lists some of his recent publications. The envolopes used to send these letters are found with the collection.
Letters, envelopes, and a magazine clipping, 1831-1919
Two handwritten and signed letters, addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth, and dated 18 Nov. 1894 and 28 Jan. 1895. Barr responds to Aylesworth's request for biographical information on her and presents a list of some of her writings. Also with the collection are the envelopes in which the letters were sent, an autograph of Barr found on the back of one of her calling cards, and a magazine clipping giving information on Barr's life.

Handwritten and signed letter, dated December 3, 1897, addressed to Barton Orville Aylesworth, and composed in Boston, Massachusetts. Adams thanks Aylesworth for "your volume, 'Song and Fable'" and mentions his own book "Dictionary of American Authors."
Papers, 1901
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 26 Dec. 1901, and addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth. Barry responds to Aylesworth's request for autobiographical information. Also included is a typewritten questionnaire with Barry's handwritten responses on it. With these items are the envelope in which the letter was sent and a portrait of Barry clipped from a magazine.
Papers, 1898
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 28 Jan. 1898 and addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth of Denver, Colorado. Black responds to Ayleworth's request for biographical information. Also included is the envelope in which the item was sent. With the colleciton is a booklet entitled, "The Success of Miss Jerry: the First Picture Play by Alexander Black" and a advertisement for "Miss America" by Black.
