Biography
Brigham Young (1801-1877) was a Latter-day Saint ecclesiastical leader and politician in Utah.
Brigham Young was born on June 1, 1801, in Witingham, Vermont. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1832, and moved to Kirtland, Ohio. He followed the migration of the Church from Ohio to Missouri to Nauvoo, Illinois. In February 1846, he led the "Mormon Exodus" to the West, and was sustained as the second president of the Church on December 27, 1847. Arriving in Utah, he settled in Salt Lake City, and in 1849 was appointed as governor of Utah Territory. Young passed away on August 29, 1877, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Stephen Bliss Moore correspondence
Handwritten correspondence. Three of the items are photocopies of handwritten items and are from Brigham Young (1801-1877) approving Moore's activities and giving him permission to settle in Strawberry Valley, Utah. One letter is from Stephen Moore to his wife, Eleanor, telling her of his experiences working away from home. Another item is from Eleanor Moore telling her brother of the death of her son, Stephen.

Mormon Church in Hawaii
Photocopies of correspondence, reports, histories, petitions, resolutions, and miscellaneous items relating to the Mormon Church in Hawaii. Most of the materials are associated with missionary work, and most date from the nineteenth century. A few items are in the Hawaiian language. One letter was written by the Mormon prophet, Brigham Young (1801-1877), and several letters are addressed to Daniel H. Wells, the Mormon apostle.
O. P. Myers letter to Brigham Young
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 8 June 1875, and addressed to Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon Church. Myers gives Young complimentary tickets to the circus.
Joseph Neville letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated March 24, 1875, and addressed to Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church. Neville writes concerning his heirship of the Jenning's estate in England.
William B. Pace letters to Brigham Young
Handwritten and signed letters, dated 14 April 1874 and 30 March 1875, and addressed to Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon Church. Pace writes about the Great Western Iron Company and its need for a railroad and additional funds. The item is also signed by James H. Hart.

Handwritten and signed letter, dated 1 Oct. 1876, and addressed to Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church. Parry writes to Young about the repairs on Young's house in St. George, Utah.
James Madison Peirce letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 24 Nov. 1875, and addressed to Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church. Peirce introduces a gentleman from San Juan who has information on the missionary activities of the Mormon Church in Arizona.
