Biography
The Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (established 1830) is a restorationist Christian church with a world-wide membership. Originally established in Upstate New York by Joseph Smith, Jr., the church is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the past, it was commonly abbreviated as the LDS Church or the Mormon Church.
During the 1820s, the church's founder, Joseph Smith, experienced visions and was led to the golden plates from which the Book of Mormon was translated. The Church was officially founded by Joseph Smith on April 6, 1830, in Palmyra, New York. The members of the religion faced a series of persecutions, and eventually fled to Utah for refuge beginning in 1847. The Church continued to grow and expand beyond Utah, and with membership later numbering over 16 million. It is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Presidents of the Church have included Joseph Smith Jr. (1832-1844), Brigham Young (1847-1877), John Taylor (1880-1887), Wilford Woodruff (1889-1898), Lorenzo Snow (1898-1901), Joseph F. Smith (1901-1918), Heber J. Grant (1918-1945), George Albert Smith (1945-1951), David O. McKay (1951-1970), Joseph Fielding Smith (1970-1972), Harold B. Lee (1972-1973), Spencer W. Kimball (1973-1985), Ezra Taft Benson (1985-1994), Howard W. Hunter (1994-1995), Gordon B. Hinckley (1995-2008), Thomas S. Monson (2008-2018), and Russell M. Nelson (2018- ).

Lynn Fausett papers
Correspondence, books, and photographic studies of American muralist Lynn Fausett. Fausett did a great deal of work commemorating Utah and LDS Church History. There are more than 3000 transparencies Fausett took as studies for his work. There are brochures and programs from Fausett's mural displays and exhibits. Additionally, some books from Fausett's library are included.
Julian William Cummings military papers, 1935-2006
Contains materials related to the military service of Julian William Cummings, a pilot during the Second World War. Includes his own typed reminiscences of his experiences and documents pertaining to the publication of his memoir on military service, "Grasshopper Pilot." Also includes several copies of service orders and correspondence, as well as his own military records of physicals and recruitment. Finally, includes documents related to clubs for retired pilots. Dated 1935-2006.
The Miracle at Academy Square collection
Contains an extremely detailed compilation (eight volumes) of official documents, correspondence, minutes, photographs, estimates, and records associated with the renovation of the old Brigham Young Academy building in Provo, UT. Also includes a CD with a digitized copy of each volume (excluding Vol. 3, written by L. Lee Bartlett).

Contains the personal and professional papers of Nibley. Includes research notes, manuscripts, photographs, publications, personal papers, and ephemera that document his work as a Mormon scholar, a professor, and a father. Materials date approximately 1844 to 2008.
Octave W. Ursenbach religious papers, 1832-1986
Contains publications, correspondence, writings, photographs, and other materials relating to Octave W. Ursenbach's service as a mission, stake, and temple president.
Sidney J. Ottley papers
Correspondence, diaries, financial ledgers, newsletters, an autobiography, greeting cards, and a scrapbook. The diaries relate to Ottley's missions for the Church in New Zealand and Great Britain and to his service as mission president also in New Zealand starting in 1951. The correspondence is between family members. The photographs in the scrapbook were taken during his mission presidency in the 1950s.
