Administrative History

The Division of Learning Resources (1973-1976) was an academic support unit at Brigham Young University. The division coordinated and administered university departments with responsibility for media development and production on campus.

The Division of Learning Resources was established in 1973 in a renaming of the earlier Instructional Services Division. At the same time, director Darrel J. Monson was appointed as assistant academic vice president. By 1975, Learning Resources was composed of three major segments: the Division of Media Production and Development, the Division of Instructional Research, Development, and Evaluation, and the Harold B. Lee Library. The division was split into three units in 1976, Media Services, the David O. McKay Institute, and Library Learning Resources.

Division directors included Darrel J. Monson (1973-1975) and William D. Farnsworth (acting, 1975-1976).
