Submitted by BYU student Richard Thomas for his Fall 1984 English 391 class. About the folklore of the role-playing oral game, such as Dungeons and Dragons, Boot Hill, Star Force, and more. Contains a cover essay, autobiographical sketch, list of informants, and informant items. Items include educational tales, entertatining tales, motivational tales and validating tales, all relating to role-playing games.

Skaggs addresses the practice of story telling as it relates to a group of previously unacquainted people. She analyzes the ability of sharing a human experience, such as traveling mishaps, has toward forming meaningful bonds and friendships. Skaggs also discusses folklore in terms of stories that are interconnected with people and serve as a connecting element. Tackett collected folklore surrounding temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Included are stories of manifestations in the temple, spirits of the dead helping on earth to show appreciation for complete ordinances, and misunderstandings about the temple. The project was written for an English 356 class taught at Brigham Young University in 1998.

Townsend collected narratives from friends he made his Freshman year at Brigham Young University about their memories of Freshman year. Included are stories of boys putting pennies into the door-frame so the boy inside couldn't get out, moving everything from a young man's room into the communal showers, and a boy accidentally messing up another boy's haircut and shaving him bald because of it. The project was written for an English 391 class taught at Brigham Young University in 1997.

Scope and Contents Amilyn Aldrich collected personal narratives about things people have said over the pulpit in testimony meetings held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Included are stories about a man singing his testimony to a strange tune he made up on the spot, a man admitting to lustful thoughts towards the Relief Society president, and a little girl being asked what only boys have that starts with a P and answering "penis" rather than the intended "priesthood". Scope and Contents note

This project is a collection of ways that parents avoid or rush the time reading bedtime stories to their children. The analysis comments on the ritual of putting children to bed, which often involves a story and song. The collector labels her genre "bedtime story escapes" and compares them to the basic functions of folklore. She also comments on her methods of categorization of the items collected. Browne collected stories that are told about the Three Nephites. Included are stories where one of the Three Nephites gives physical or spiritual assistance, gives a warning, or vanishes without a trace. Project was created for and English 391 course taught at Brigham Young University in 1968.

Included are stories of people being helped with car trouble, being aided in making difficult life decisions, and three people claiming to be the three Nephites in sacrament meeting. Robinson collected stories from quilters about why they quilt. Included are stories about quilts for birth and babies, coming of age, weddings and anniversaries, and death and grieving.
