Scope and Contents This collection includes family correspondence, autobiographical and biographical material of Edward H. Snow, journals, notebooks, documents, and miscellaneous papers. There are also newspaper clippings and published materials about Snow, as well as several photographs of Snow family members. Content Description

Contains a round wooden box that belonged to Eliza R. Snow. It was donated to the BYU President's Office in 1973 by H. R. Wilson of Santa Rosa, California. According to description by donor, the box belonged to Eliza R. Snow and was used when going to Utah in early 1846-1847. The box includes a wooden spoon that supposedly came with the box.

Materials include five volumes of records of Mormon temple ordinances performed by and for the Erastus and Artemisia Beman Snow family between 1884 and 1930. Erastus Fairbanks Snow correspondence and an autobiography

Handwritten correspondnece with photocopies and an autbiography. The materials include correspondence between Snow and his family, 1847-1887, a report on the possibilities of Mormons settling in the Gila River Valley of Arizona and in Mexico, and an autobiography dictated to Snow's son, Franklin Snow. In the autobiography Erastus Snow tells about his work in the settling of St. George, Utah.

Content Description Handwritten letter sent by Erastus Snow to James McGaw. Letter is signed for Erastus Snow by James M. Brown and sent from St. Louis, Missouri. This letter discusses the passage of Latter-day Saint member James Mather and his family from Liverpool, England to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1855. Elder James M. Brown, writing for Apostle Erastus Snow, sent this receipt and order to Elder James McGaw in Atchison, Kansas Territory to supply Mather with wagons and oxen for the overland trip to Utah....

Photocopies of handwritten diaries from about 1836 to 1857, a notebook from 1848, correspondence from 1847 to 1888, financial papers from 1855 to 1883, miscellaneous items from 1840 to 1879, and copy of a revelation given in 1836 which is now found in Doctrine and Covenants, Sec. 111. The materials relate to Snow's finances and activities.

Frank Snow letters

Scope and Contents

Handwritten letters. The collection consists primarily of letters written by Frank Snow to his wife, Effie Mae Harrison Snow, and family while he was serving as a missionary for the Mormon Church in Mississippi from 1897 to 1899. The collection contains thirty-nine letters to Frank's wife and four pages from letters. Miscellaneous items include: a missionary blessing by George Teasdale, letters by other persons, and a poem. The materials largely document Snow's missionary experience.

Abstract

The folder contains a printed letter addressed to B. F. Cummings, Jr. and dated 8 September 1894. The item is a form letter in which Cummings' name was handwritten. Snow, then president of the Salt Lake Temple of the Mormon Church, requests donations of books to build up the library of that temple.
