Erastus Fairbanks Snow (1818-1888) was an apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a prominent settler of Southern Utah.

Erastus Snow was born on November 19, 1818 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Snow joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1833 when he was 15 years old. He served several missions for the Church, including one to Denmark. Because of his time in Europe, he was responsible for the translation of the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and other Church publications into Danish. He, with Orson Pratt, was one of the first Mormon pioneers to enter the Salt Lake Valley. He was later called to be an Apostle in 1849. In 1861 he was asked to settle southern Utah and played a crucial role in the settlement of St. George. He married Artimesia Beman on December 3, 1838, and they had eleven children together. He is known to have had multiple wives. Erastus Snow died on May 27, 1888 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

James R. McGaw (1824-1872) was a Mormon missionary, agent for the Perpetual Emigration Fund, and settler of Ogden, Utah.

James McGaw was born on August 27, 1824 in Ontario, Canada to parents Charles and Susanna Taylor McGaw. He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 11, 1841 at age 15. McGraw later married Mary Matilda Bassett on May 15, 1852. He served a number of missions for the Church and became an immigration officer for new saints traveling to the United States. He led the James McGaw Wagon Company in 1852 across the plains to Salt Lake City and returned for more companies in later years. James McGaw died on January 15, 1872 in Ogden, Utah.
