Collection of laws relating to the city of Hamburg, Germany regarding legal municipal matters of the late sixteenth century and early seventeenth century. The bound manuscript in hand is incomplete and starts with section eight. There is reason to believe that a Matthiae Sluter had something to do with the collection, but his role is uncertain.

Luigino Bardi family history

Scope and Contents

History of the Bardi family. Among other things, it documents their feud with the Soderini family with which they were bitterly antagonistic for generations. These documents tell of an unsuccessful plot to kill Piero Soderini and other actions taken between these two rival families. The manuscript was written in a simple code that is a mix of Latin and Greek. The probable intention of this code was to make the material difficult to read and to confuse the Bardi's enemies.

Scope and Contents Official correspondence of the Kingdom of England and Wales in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, found among the personal papers of Robert Beale. Most letters are either by him or to him. They deal with the earliest years of the Dutch Republic and the part played by England in the Dutch revolt. Many of the letters were also originally addressed to Sir Francis Walsingham (1530-1590), Beale's brother-in-law, and Elizabeth's Secretary of State. Thirty-three handwritten records. The items are largely in Latin with some Greek references. The materials relate to the politics, internal matters, theological controversies, and censorship in the Catholic Church. The items date mainly from the last quarter of the sixteenth to the first quarter of the seventeenth centuries. Also included are references to important earlier events such as the Council of Trent. Many of the items relate to restricting certian works from being read.
