Scope and Contents

Contains original documents, letters, and life histories about June and Maida Moody's ancestors and relatives. Most of the documents relate to Ellis Mendenhall Sanders. Also includes a will, notebooks, and other material from other family members, as well as life histories about Milton Moody and Harold Russell written by June Moody and Maida Moody respectively. Dated 1810 to 1985.

Biographical History

June E. Moody (1911-1996) was a Mormon engineer in California and Utah.

June Evan Moody was born on March 11, 1911 in St. George, Utah, to parents Joseph Milton Moody and Jane Everett. He worked as an engineer in Los Angeles, California. He married Maida Russell on July 11, 1934 in Panguitch, Utah, and they had two children. He was interested in family history and, with his wife, gathered documents and information about his ancestors Ellis M. Sanders, Addison Everett, and Jacob Broom. He also wrote a life history about his father, Joseph Milton Moody.

Moody died on December 27, 1996 in St. George, Utah.

Maida Russell Moody is a Mormon homemaker in Utah.

Maida Russell Moody was born on September 11, 1917, in Hurricane, Utah, to parents Harold Russell and Mary Emily Gifford. She married June Evan Moody on July 11, 1934, and they had two children together. She is interested in family history and helped her husband collect documents about his ancestors. She also wrote a life history about her father in 1985.

Donated by June and Maida Moody in approximately 1993. They collected or authored the items that make up this collection, all of which relate to their ancestors. June is the son of Joseph Milton Moody, the great-grandson of Addison Everett, the great-grandson of Ellis Mendenhall, and the great-great-great grandson of Jacob Broom. Maida is the daughter of Harold Russell.
