Private journal of James E. Talmage, vol. IV, 1890-1891
Scope and Contents
Handwritten journal includes nearly daily entires from September 1, 1890 to July 26, 1891. Begins in Salt Lake City, Utah, and ends in Rome, Italy. Includes Talmage's appointment as president of the Deseret Museum in January 1891. In July 1891, Talmage had been requested to attend a conference of the Royal Microscopical Society in London, England, and spent time traveling throughout Europe. Dated 1890-1891.

Originals restricted. Digital copy of the first twelve of thirty volumes of Talmage's personal journals (1879-1911) available online. Unedited typescripts and microfilm of all thirty volumes also available.
Conditions Governing Use
The literary rights to the Talmage collection rest with the Harold B. Lee Library and the Talmage family. Permission to publish material from the James E. Talmage collection must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services at specialcollections@byu.edu.
