Scope and Contents

Materials contain papers detailing Leo Hartwell Loveridge's service in the U.S. Army during World War II as assistant secretary to Lt. General Robert Richardson. File includes a memoir in which he recounts his military experience, including some experiences that he had with the signing of the treaty on the U.S.S. Missouri. Also contains several articles: "'Day of Infamy'-or 'deceit'?" "FDR knew of attack," "Pearl Harbor Scapegoats," "December 7, 1941: A Setup from the Beginning," "Captain Vincent J. Colan Letters to the White House," "The Impact of World War II on Asian America," "A Summary of the Article-Hiroshima: Was it Necessary?" and "Hiroshima-Who Disagreed with the Atomic Bombing?" Also contains many radio communications between the Supreme Allied Headquarters and the Japanese Imperial Headquarters concerning Japan's surrender. Many photocopied photographs are included, as well as a book entitled, "Victory!-At Last! A tribute to United States Army Ground and Air Forces in the Central Pacific Area During the World War II Period," which contains Loveridge's memoir, many photographs, and another copy of the radio communications between Supreme Allied Headquarters and Japanese Imperial Headquarters. Dated 1944-2005.
