Biographical History

From the Collection:

The Calder family were residents of Utah. David O. Calder was born in 1823 in Scotland and immigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah. David O. Calder’s first wife Annie Rogers Mackay was born on September 23, 1837, in Kirkmichael Isle of Man. They were married on April 6, 1854, in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory. Together, Mackay and Calder had four daughters: Annie Isabella Calder, Alice M. Calder, Ida Georgina M. Calder, and Georgina Mackay Calder. Three years after his marriage to Annie Rogers Mackay, Calder married Ann Hammer on March 5, 1857. Hammer was born in Tottington, Lancashire, England on December 10, 1839. Together, Hammer and Calder had thirteen children equaling five sons and eight daughters. Their names were David George Calder, Ella Calder, Margaret Swanson H. Calder, Mary Ann Calder, Daniel Hammer Calder, Samuel Hammer Calder, William Hammer Calder, Joseph Hammer Calder, Henrietta Calder, Clara Hammer Calder, Elsie Hammer Calder, Annie Hammer Calder, and Agnes Calder. David O. Calder’s first wife Annie Rogers Mackay passed away in 1906, and his second wife, Ann Hammer, died in 1902. David passed away in 1884.
