Kane in Chicago, pieced together with tape, envelope (included) labeled (in Elizabeth Dennistoun Wood Kane’s hand) “ May 1880. Pieces of copies of a letter and its sequel, that were stolen from Tom, at Chicago. These scraps he had hidden in the lining of his trunk. Fortunately what was stolen was unsigned,” 2 pp., 27/28-29 May 1880.
