Letter from Gutmann family to Sigmund Heilner and Seligmann Heilner. Regina, Mathilde and Retta each write this letter from Karbach, Germany and vividly tell of the hard life they are having and the tragedies they have had to endure. Perhaps this letter, more than any other, shows how unfortunate it must have been to live under the dowry system. Dated March 16, 1883. Also contains a translation of the letter.
