Heilner family letter to Sigmund Heilner and Seligmann Heilner, 1866 May 13, 1866 May 10
Scope and Contents
Letters from Heilner family to Sigmund Heilner and Seligmann Heilner. Two letters have been sent in the same envelope--one from David, the other from Aron. Prussia threatens war against Austria and Germany. Italy, too, has become an aggressor against Austria. Beginning in Germany, it was called the Seven Weeks' War of 1866. It was the result of further fighting over the Schleswig-Holstein question, which was still simmering from the war in 1864. It merged in the larger question of Bismarck's growing ambition for a dominant Prussia. Sigmund is now working in Northeastern Washington in a gold mining town of "Little Dalles." Dated May 10, 1866, May 13, 1866. Also contains a translation of the letters.
