Scope and Contents

Letter from Heilner family to Sigmund Heilner. Seligmann finds few answers regarding his future in Germany but has much advice for Sigmund. He refers to Bernard Goldsmith who, like Seligmann, has come to see his family. He also returns and becomes the first Jewish mayor of Portland, Oregon. Dated March 20, 1861. Includes a translation of the letter.
