Robert Ray Nixon was born on February 14, 1883 to Thomas Stephen Nixon and Lucy Ellen Norton in Wanship, Utah. He served in the LDS Southern States mission in the early twentieth century, circa 1900-1912. Nixon was married to Margaret Elizabeth Dean on September 30, 1914, who passed away in 1917. He then married Dora Mary Crockett in 1925. Robert Ray Nixon died in Ogden, Utah on November 22, 1972.

Collection contains photographs of groups and individuals known by Robert Ray Nixon while he served as a Mormon missionary to the Southern States Mission, dating between 1900 and 1912. They may be individuals from home or from the mission field. A small portion of the photographs are annotated with personal messages to Robert Ray Nixon.
