Biographical History

Vern H. Jensen (1918-1980) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a psychology professor in Utah.

Vern Harmon Jensen was born on September 26, 1918 in Manassa, Colorado to Oliver Exile Jensen and Rosa Jane Sowards. Raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a missionary in Denmark between 1938 and 1941. After his return he enlisted in the United States Army, and served in north Africa and Italy.

After the war Jensen moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University. He married Barbara Fae Ewell on March 27, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1948 he completed his bachelor's degree, then earned a master's degree at BYU in 1950 in the philosophy of education and guidance. He later earned an EdD from the University of Colorado in 1957.

Jensen began working in the Counseling Service at Brigham Young University in 1949. In 1966 he became chairman of the unit.

Vern H. Jensen passed away on November 24, 1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
