Biographical History

A. T. Henson (1888-1985) was a soldier in World War I.

Arthur Thomas Henson was born on January 31, 1888 in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England. His parents are Albert Henson and Annie Marie Groves. At 22 years old, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Great Britain from August 1910 to October 1912. He served in World War I from 1915 to 1919, and was Bandmaster of the 50th Canadian Infantry Band. He died October 22, 1985.

Scope and Contents

Contains two diaries that A.T. Henson wrote during his service in the Canadian military during World War I in Europe. The first diary covers September 7, 1917, to February 28, 1918, and the second covers March 1, 1918, to July 12, 1918. Also contains one World War I photograph album, including photographs, letters, and printed ephemera that Henson created and compiled to document his military service overseas. These materials are dated from 1915 to 1919.
