David A. Schulthess (1924-2014) was a sports information director in Utah.

Schulthess; b. in Provo; grew up in suburb of Los Angeles; BS Physical and Mathematical Science, minor in Journalism, Brigham Young University, 1950; editor of Daily Universe and Alumnus Magazine as student; worked for Deseret News, Salt Lake Telegram, and Salt Lake Tribune; served three years in U.S. Army Infantry, in South Pacific; sports information director for BYU; joined BYU as first full-time sports publicist, December 1951; served as president of College Sports Information Directors of America, 1980; inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame; 1989, presented CoSIDA's Arch Ward Award, and BYU's prestigious Dale Rex Award; served on fundraising committees for Marriott Center and football stadium expansion; helped host an NCAA Wrestling Championship and four NCAA Track and Field Championships; after retiring, served as public affairs director for BYU campus stakes and as volunteer for BYU Alumni Association; m. Francilda (Fran) Wood in Salt Lake Temple, March 1952; three daughters and one son; d. Oct. 28, 2014)
