Biographical History

Blaine P. Parkinson (1924- ) was an education professor in Utah.

Blaine Parkinson Parkinson was born in 1924 to Bernice Richard Parkinson and Karma Benson Parkinson. Raised in southeast Idaho in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Parkinson served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New England under President S. Dilworth Young. After his return he married Lenore Young, his mission president's daughter, in the Salt Lake Temple in 1948. They had nine children.

Parkinson completed his education at the University of Utah. He received a bachelor's degree in 1951, and then began working as a teacher and counselor in Weber County, Utah schools. Beginning in 1957 he worked at Brigham Young University as the director of program and personnel for men's housing. During this time he completed a master's degree at Utah in 1959. In 1962 he joined the education faculty at Weber State College, and earned his PhD in 1964. He remained on the Education faculty at Weber State until his retirement.

Parkinson has served in a variety of church callings, including serving on the high council of the Brigham Young University Stake. He and his wife were missionaries in the England Coventry Mission and the France Geneva Mission.

Also includes memoranda by the faculty committee on honor, and by University officials.
