Biographical History

Kenner C. Kartchner Jr. (1921-1993) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an investigator, salesman, and announcer in Utah.

Kenner Casteel Kartchner Jr. was born on September 30, 1921 in LaLuz, New Mexico to Kenner Casteel Kartchner and Electa Adlee Lindsey. He was raised in Arizona, and later attended college in Arizona and Texas before coming to Brigham Young University. In 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and trained as a cadet. After the war he married Ellen Beverly Bowen on September 5, 1947 in Salt Lake Temple. They had four daughters. Kartchner also received a law degree from University of Utah Law School.

In 1957 Kartchner worked as the director of program for men's housing at Brigham Young University. He also later worked as a special agent for FBI, and as a sales representative for L.G. Balfour Co. Kartchner became a radio sportscaster and announcer for BYU athletic teams and events, and came to be called "Voice of the Y".

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served mission in the Eastern States.

Kartchner died in Provo, Utah on April 23, 1993.
