Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Boston Massachusetts Stake
Administrative History
The Boston Stake (est. 1962) is an ecclesiastical unit of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints based in Weston, Massachusetts.
The Boston Stake was organized on May 20, 1962 by President Henry D. Moyle. Originally the stake covered not only Boston, but Billerica, Cambridge, Lynn, South Weymouth, and Weston. In 1977 church growth was sufficient that part of the stake was made into the Providence Rhode Island Stake. The Boston Stake was split twice more, once in 1981 and once in 1998, forming the Higham Massachusetts Stake and then the Cambridge Massachusetts Stake.
The Boston Stake now covers 9 wards: Boston 1st Ward, Boston 3rd Ward (Haitian-Creole), Brookline Ward, Framingham 1st Ward, Marlborough Ward, Weston 1st Ward, Weston 2nd Ward, Worcester 1st Ward, and the Worcester 2nd Ward. It also covers 4 branches: Boston 2nd Branch (Spanish), Boston 4th Branch (Portuguese), Framingham 2nd Branch (Spanish), and the Worcester 3rd Branch (Spanish).
