Biographical History

Clayton M. Christensen (1952-2020) was an American academic, businessman, and author.

Clayton M. Christensen was born April 6, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He began his academic career when he obtained a B.A. in economics from Brigham Young University in 1975. He continued this career when he obtained a masters in philosophy, applied econometrics from Oxford University in 1977, and an MBA and DBA from Harvard Business School in 1992. Starting in 1992, he was a member of the faculty at Harvard Business School.

As a businessman, Christensen has worked for Boston Consulting Group; was the chairman and President of Ceramics Process Systems Corporation; founder of Innosight LLC; co-founder of Rose Park Advisors LLC; on the Board of Directors of Tata Consultancy Services, Franklin Covey, and Vanu, Inc. Christensen is an author who is best known for "The Innovator's Dilemma." He was a resident of Belmont, Massachusetts, and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Clayton passed away on January 23, 2020, in Boston, Massachusetts.
