Administrative History

The Electrical Engineering Science Department (1957-1977) was an instructional unit at Brigham Young University. The department taught courses in communications, electronics, energy conversion, systems and circuits, and automatic controls.

The Electrical Engineering Science Department was established in 1957 in a split of the earlier Department of Engineering Sciences. It initially reported to the College of Physical and Engineering Sciences, and moved to the College of Engineering Sciences and Technology in 1973. In 1977 it was renamed the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Department chairs included Jens J. Jonsson (1957-1960), Darrel J. Monson (1960-1966), and Ferril A. Losee (1966-1977).
